Birthday Cards with Louise!

Hello Quick Quotes Readers! Louise here on the blog today with two feminine birthday cards that I made using leftover pieces from previous Club Q kits.

The Club Q kits come with plenty of extra product, and the papers are so beautiful that I don't like to let any go to waste. These 2 cards were made from leftover pieces of the February and May Club Q kits combined with several colors of PowderPuff Chalk inks.

The February Club Q contained many die-cut flowers. Although I used some in February, there were still enough flowers left to use on both cards. The papers, ribbons, and pearls also came from the February Club Q. The vines, chipboard bird, and "Happy" embellishment came from the May Club Q.

  • For the blue card, I colored the chipboard bird with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Sandy Shore using my ink blender tool, adding extra ink directly to the edges.
  • I used the same technique to color the chipboard flowers with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Tropical Punch.
  • The green paper vines are edged in PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Cactus.
  • I used the pearls for the centers of the flowers and the bird's eye.
  • The birthday greeting was stamped with  PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Midnight Confessions.

  • For the green card, I punched the butterflies from some of the scraps from the February Club Q.
  • I colored the flowers with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Buttercup using an ink blender tool, adding extra ink directly to the tips of petals and the wings of the butterflies.
  • To color the butterflies' bodies, I held the wings back and dabbed the middle onto PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Midnight Confessions.
  • The "Happy" element and the background paper are inked with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Limeade, one of the colors included in the Retired Colors PowderPuff Chalking Ink set.
  • The word birthday was stamped with  PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Midnight Confessions.

Both my Mother and my Mother-in-law have summer birthdays and both appreciate a hand-made card. I know they will each enjoy one of these. I hope I have inspired you to make cards from the leftover pieces of your Club Q kits.

One Perfect Moment with Louise!

Good morning Quick Quotes readers, Louise here on the blog today. I'm playing along with this month's "Celebrate the Graduate" challenge. My son graduates from middle school next week and this page is about the 8th Grade Dance. You can find the challenge here.

All of the patterned papers on this are from the Spring Showers Paper Pack. Although this collection does contain floral patterns, the blues, greens, and woodgrain patterns can be combined to give this masculine feel. The papers are edged with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Deep Sea, except for lighter blue photo mat which is edged with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Bermuda.

The journaling spot is stamped with dye ink and colored with a waterbrush and PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Capri Blue. I use the ink's cover as a pallet as shown below and wipe it clean when I am done.  After I fussy cut the journaling spot, I inked the edges with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Midnight Confessions. This makes it stand out more and hides imperfections in my cutting.

I made my own embellishments using PowderPuff Chalk inks and stamps. I stamp the image, fussy cut it out, and then edge it with the same shade of chalk ink. The camera and one circle are stamped with Midnight Confessions PowderPuff Chalk Ink and the other circle embellishments are stamped with Capri Blue PowderPuff Chalk Ink. The camera is raised on foam adhesive.

The title and saying at the bottom are from the Earth Wind Fire 500 sheet. I liked the title "One Perfect Moment" because that's how long the boys stood still for this photo. I chose the Phrase "Simply Amazing" as a comment on how much these boys have grown and matured.  I added some more journaling on plain white cardstock  to explain this. Both sayings are edged with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Deep Sea and raised on foam adhesive.

A journey together with Louise!

Good morning Quick Quotes readers! Louise here on the blog with a vacation layout using the Far and Away collection.

With summer quickly approaching, I really want to finish scrapping my vacation photos from last summer. I had 3 photos that I wanted to use and didn't want to crop them so a lot of space on the page would be used for photos.

I wanted  a border around the photos but I didn't want a large photo mat because I needed to use the remaining space for embellishments and journaling. My solution to this was to mount the photos on a piece of white cardstock cut 1/8" larger than the photos and heavily inked with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Deep Sea.

The quotes on the Adventure Awaits 601 strip said exactly what I wanted to say on this page so I used 3 of them.

I really liked the "Explore the world, Read the map..." quote so I trimmed it down and matted it with Far and Away 104. I still wanted it to stand out more so I die-cut a circle from the Far and Away 103 paper and placed it behind it.

I  used a couple of items from the Far and Away 12" x 12" Quotes and Phrases sheet  for the cluster in the lower left corner.

Sometimes I like to hide little things on my pages. As I was finishing up this page, I happened to notice that some of the little destination stamps on the Far and Away 100 paper said  "Toledo, Ohio" and my photos happen to be from Toledo, Spain. I decided to fussy cut a couple of these images and layer them such that only the word Toledo shows. I did this in 2 places on my layout. I don't know if anyone will notice this, but it makes me happy to know it's there.

All of the patterned papers on this page are from the Far and Away paper pack and all of the edges are inked with PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Deep Sea.
